When Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version were released for the Nintendo DS, The Pokémon Company International launched a rather ambitious project called the Pokémon Global Link – a website that connected directly with the games, allowing players to obtain Pokémon with new abilities, obtain berries that can’t be found in the games and tally themselves in battling rankings, among other things. Today, The Pokémon Company have announced that this service will be available for the upcoming Pokémon X and Pokémon Y games, but at a cost:
Early October 2013:: The Global Link website will go down for maintenance.
12th October 2013:: The website will re-open, but the trial version of the Dream World and new user registration will be taken offline.
10th December 2013: Putting Pokémon in Black/White/Black 2/White 2 will be taken offline.
14th January 2014: This is when the majority of Generation V features will be taken offline. The GTS tracking for the Generation V games, the Rating Mode on Random Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Memory Link in Black 2/White 2, C-Gear, Musical and Pokédex skin customisation and waking up Pokémon within the Global Link will go offline.
However, the use of the GTS within the games themselves and the Free Rating section of Random Wi-Fi will remain online.
