Although not entirely game related (As there is no new game), it emerged last week that SEGA’s mascot Sonic the Hedgehog and CAPCOM’s Mega Man will be the focus of a 12-part crossover event that will be serialised next year in Archie Comics titles “Sonic the Hedgehog”, “Mega Man” and “Sonic Universe” and will be available both in print and digitally.
The story is being written by Ian Flynn (who writes all three previously mentioned comics) and will feature cover art from Patrick Spaziante. Next year will mark the 20th year that Archie Comics has been releasing Sonic comics; which won a Guinness World Record in 2008 for being the longest comic series based on a game character.
When asked about the project, Flynn is quoted as saying:
“”They’re both fun, adventurous and open to everyone. They both have heavy sci-fi themes, mainly robotics, underpinning them that give us something to build from and play off each other. That, and they both have mad-scientist nemeses with fabulous mustaches!”"
I definitely agree with that last part.
Are you looking forward to this comic event? Also, are you somewhat hoping that maybe, maybe, in some point in the future, the two might come together in a video game?
